At the end of 2025, 6,884 foreign and joint ventures were active in Albania, confirming the significant presence of foreign capital in the Albanian economy. Although compared to the end of 2024, their number has suffered a slight decrease of 123 companies, the data shows that foreign investors are increasingly oriented towards sectors with high growth potential, such as technology and tourism.

According to statistics, the services sector continues to dominate the activity of foreign enterprises in the country. Around 5,496 operate in services, making up nearly four-fifths of the total. Within this group, information and communication, as well as tourism-related activities, stand out in particular.

The strongest growth was recorded in the information and communication sector. The number of foreign enterprises in this activity increased to 722 at the end of 2025, from 663 a year earlier.

The accommodation and food service sector also recorded positive performance. The number of active enterprises increased to 350, from 339 at the end of 2024. This development is closely related to the expansion of the tourism industry, which in recent years has become one of the main pillars of the Albanian economy and one of the most attractive sectors for foreign investors.

Growth has also been recorded in agriculture, forestry and fishing, where the number of enterprises rose to 72, from 68 a year earlier. Although it remains a sector with a smaller weight compared to services and industry, the growth shows that investors are seeing new opportunities in agricultural production and activities related to agri-food exports.

Another positive development is related to the origin of capital. While the number of enterprises from European Union countries has decreased, businesses with capital from non-EU countries have increased from 2,754 to 2,786. This indicates a greater diversification of foreign investments and expanding interest from new international markets.

However, trade remains the activity with the highest number of foreign enterprises, with 1,433 active businesses.
