Over 105 thousand taxpayers are "freed" from fines - Binaj: The process is continuing normally. Compensation for farmers begins on July 1

Over 105,000 taxpayers have so far benefited from the amnesty law, as the tax administration has automatically deleted the fines accumulated in the system.
In an interview with SCAN TV, the Director General of Taxation, Ilir Binaj, stated that the process for unconditional debt relief will be completed by June 30, 2026. Meanwhile, this deadline also applies to those taxpayers who want to benefit from the forgiveness of 50% of the principal.
"This process began on May 15, 2026 and by June 10, the tax administration prepared the lists of beneficiary taxpayers, as well as those who did not benefit. Non-beneficiary taxpayers were notified through our e-Tax system, then the automatic compensation of credit balances continued, 13 thousand taxpayers were affected in this process, for a value of 10.4 million euros. After the automatic compensation, the tax administration continued with the cancellation of tax liabilities, up to this stage, the cancellation of fines for about 105 thousand taxpayers, for a value of 91.7 million euros. The cancellation of all unconditional liabilities is continuing until December 31, 2014. According to the plan of measures that the tax administration has made, this process for the closure of unconditional liabilities should be closed by June 30 2026, meanwhile, during this phase, conditional obligations will also be canceled for those who pay 50% of the principal for the period from January 1, 2015 to December 31, 2019. Meanwhile, for payments related to the period from January 1, 2020 to December 31, 2024, and for those that are the full payment of the principal, the cancellation will be applied again. The forgiveness law will continue to apply until December 31, 2026. "
Regarding the compensation of farmers at the rate of 10% of the invoices issued, Binaj announced that the process will start in July.
"According to the tax administration's calculations so far, there are about 10 thousand farmers and the value is estimated at 10.7 million euros, I believe that by June 30, this value will increase. What we have seen and compared with last year is that we have had a significant increase in invoices, both in value and in the number of invoices. The tax administration is preparing the entire process for their reimbursement and it starts on July 1. A solution that is as simple as possible and as digital as possible is being considered, I believe that by June 23, the tax administration will inform farmers on how to apply. We invite farmers to open bank accounts as soon as possible because the payments will be transferred to their bank accounts, and applications will begin on July 1."
The farmers' bill reimbursement scheme will be implemented for the first time this year, giving them the opportunity to benefit and creating liquidity. The goal is to formalize the sector.
