June 30, deadline for conditional forgiveness of obligations/ Taxpayers pay only 50% of the principal, benefit from fines
June 30 is the deadline for taxpayers who want to benefit from the conditional forgiveness of arrears.
The tax administration has notified taxpayers through a pop-up in their e-Filing accounts, who can contact the Regional Tax Directorates to verify their financial situation.
For tax liabilities belonging to the period 2015–2019, entities are given the opportunity to pay 50% of the principal liability and, on the other hand, benefit from the cancellation of the remaining 50% of the principal liability, as well as the full forgiveness of fines and late payment interest.
However, to benefit from the law, declarations not submitted by 31.12.2024 must be submitted by 30 June 2026.
After this date, they will have the opportunity to pay 75% of the principal and receive 25% forgiveness until December.
Payments are made at commercial banks or at the Albanian Post Office using the payment order generated from the taxpayer's account in the e-Filing system.
Taxpayers who have received notification from the Tax Administration that they do not meet the conditions to benefit from the Amnesty Law have the right to request a review of their case by submitting a request/complaint to the relevant Regional Tax Directorate, accompanied by supporting documentation as appropriate.
Specifically, taxpayers must submit a certificate of judicial status; a certificate from the prosecutor's office; a certificate from the court and any other evidentiary document issued by the competent authorities.
While entities affected by Article 11 of the law must submit
any evidentiary document, including a court decision or other official act proving that there is no final court decision in favor of the tax administration for the unpaid obligations.
In the same manner, requests for waiver of the right to sue/appeal, according to the provisions of the law, previously filed by the taxpayer with the competent court, will also be filed.
Referring to data from the tax administration, recently over 10,881 taxpayers have benefited from the automatic deletion/extinguishment of 4.8 million euros in unpaid tax liabilities, while 6,475 taxpayers have been automatically deregistered, in accordance with the provisions of the Amnesty Law.
