Energy losses in the network decrease slightly - ERE: In the period January-April, the level reached 16.57%, 0.43% less than last year
Losses in the electricity distribution network continued their downward trend during the first quarter of 2026, falling to 16.57%, the lowest level reported in years. Data from the Energy Regulatory Authority show that compared to the same period in 2025, when losses were 17%, an improvement of 0.43% was recorded.
Usually, the reduction of losses is the result of investments in the distribution network, as well as measures to identify illegal connections and unauthorized interventions in the system.
The loss indicator remains one of the main parameters for the performance of the distribution operator, as it directly affects the system costs and the efficiency of electricity supply. Technical losses are mainly related to the state of the network and the physical characteristics of energy transmission, while non-technical losses include energy theft and metering issues.
On the other hand, ERE data shows that the collection level in the distribution system resulted in 82% for the period January-April 2026. This indicator appears significantly lower than the level of 99% reported a year earlier, however, the final assessment of collection performance is expected to be clarified in further annual reports.
