Taxes: Revenues in May 2026 reach 36.5 billion lek, 10.6% more than a year ago

Tax revenues have continued their positive trend during May 2026, recording a significant increase both compared to the projected plan and compared to the same period last year.
According to data published by the General Directorate of Taxes, total net revenues for May reached 36.5 billion lek, exceeding the plan by 2.3 billion lek, or 6.8% more than expected.
Also, compared to May 2025, revenues have increased by 3.5 billion lekë, which translates into an increase of 10.6% on an annual basis.
The Tax Administration estimates that the results reflect the positive performance of the Albanian economy, as well as the effects of measures taken to formalize the economy, improve tax administration, and increase voluntary compliance with fiscal obligations by businesses and citizens.
According to Taxes, the trend of revenue growth supports the objectives of strengthening public finances and guaranteeing the necessary resources to finance the country's development policies.
