12-month bond yield rises to 2.57%/ Highest level recorded in recent months, government increases financing

Yields on 12-month treasury bills marked another increase in the latest auction held by the Bank of Albania, signaling a stabilization of return rates in the government securities market.
According to official data, the weighted average yield of 12-month bonds reached 2.57%, up from 2.52% in the previous auction.
The auction initially announced a financing amount of 9 billion lek, while the total demand from the market reached around 11.06 billion lek. In the end, an amount of 10.24 billion lek was accepted, higher than the initial financing target.
The increase in the amount received also affected the increase in the average yield, as the government accepted offers with higher interest rates to secure additional financing.
Historical auction data shows that 12-month bond yields have gradually recovered from the lows recorded last year, when rates had fallen close to 2%. In recent months, the market has shown signs of stabilization and a slight upward trend in rates of return.
The developments are also related to market expectations for inflation and monetary policy. Although inflation in Albania still remains close to the Bank of Albania's target, geopolitical tensions and uncertainties in international markets have increased investor caution and dampened expectations for further interest rate cuts.
For the time being, movements in the government securities market remain moderate and do not signal strong changes in financial conditions in the domestic market.
