Redevelopment of the Congress Palace/ 5 architectural studios present projects

Five international architectural studios are presenting projects for the redevelopment of the Palace of Congresses. Present at the international competition, Prime Minister Edi Rama said that the state is now turning into a property owner.
"The state addresses its own needs by making available, just as all legitimate owners of its assets do, but no longer as in the past, no longer by giving them for development at symbolic costs and benefits, but by becoming a major owner of valuable assets that are at the disposal of the state," said Rama.
The Prime Minister recalled that there are still a considerable number of spaces where public institutions operate that are rented to private owners.
"Here, a significant strengthening towards state ownership of assets is taking place, and in the meantime, through this, a significant transformation of the urban structure and the quality of construction is also taking place," Rama emphasized.
The Prime Minister stated that the Palace of Congresses, from the point of view of internal infrastructure, has serious problems to address. Therefore, Rama said that now is the time for transformation while preserving its identity.
The call for cooperation of the enterprise, according to the Prime Minister, also implies the development of one or several facilities near the Palace of Congresses.
"The ultimate goal is for this building to arrive on time from the point of view of technology, the quality of the spaces, from the point of view of the entire reorganized and re-engaged structure in terms of quality. This building and this area will become another tourist destination of Tirana, not leaving an island always silent where there are no activities, but creating life here as we have created around the former stadium pit, which today is another pole of life in the capital", Rama added.
