Where can you invest your money? Tafa: Albanians continue to be "loyal" to deposits and real estate

While investment alternatives continue to grow, Albanians continue to remain "faithful" to investing their savings in bank deposits and real estate.
In an interview with Scan Television, pedagogue Besarta Tafa stated that they are seen as the two most sustainable forms of investment by citizens, despite the fact that there are many other investment alternatives.
"Albanians have traditionally decided to keep their savings in the bank, in the form of a bank account, as well as a savings account. This is also supported by data from the Bank of Albania, which reported in 2025 a record increase in bank deposits, exceeding 1.4 trillion lekë. But what remains one of the most preferred forms for Albanians is investment in real estate. This is due to the fact that Albanians consider it the most tangible form of investment and also the most stable ," emphasized pedagogue Tafa.
Investing money in government securities, participating in investment funds or private pension funds, are also a good way to diversify investments and consequently profits from savings.
"First, we have treasury bills and government bonds, which constitute a financial instrument issued by the government, with a relatively low return, but are one of the most stable financial instruments on the market. Secondly, investment funds have also experienced great development, which offer a diversified investment opportunity for Albanian consumers, even for those who do not have in-depth financial knowledge. It is also worth mentioning private pension funds, which also offer long-term financial security in the post-retirement period ," Tafa listed.
On the other hand, investing in cryptocurrencies, while profitable, is also high-risk, as it requires some basic financial knowledge or a financial consultant to make the investment, even in conditions of cyber insecurity.
"But we should not forget the opportunity that globalization has offered Albania for investments in cryptocurrencies. This is a type of investment that promises a very high return, but on the other hand it also comes with its own challenges. First is cybersecurity and second, for an individual to invest in cryptocurrencies they must have a minimum financial knowledge or at least they must act with a financial consultant, so that their investment is as accurate and safe as possible, otherwise it would result in losses or high risks ," said Tafa.
According to the lecturer, there is no unique form for all investors, everyone decides to invest their funds depending on their risk profile, depending on the time frame they prefer to return the investment, as well as the liquidity requirement. The best way would be to diversify into different financial funds, enabling investment with a high return, as well as for the best possible management of financial risk, she said.
