Document forgery, number of frauds increases - 22.4% more criminal proceedings, Tirana leads

The past year has marked a 22.4% increase in the number of proceedings registered for document forgery compared to 2024.
Data from the General Prosecutor's Office show an increase in the number of proceedings sent to court by 31.6%, an increase in the number of defendants registered against this total in 2024 of 34.4%, an increase in the number of defendants sent to court by 28.7% and an increase in the number of defendants convicted by the court by 41.2% compared to 2024.
Regarding the geographical distribution, it is noted that the highest number of proceedings registered for document falsification is in the prosecutor's offices of the first instance courts of Tirana with 58% of the total number of proceedings, Fier 6%, Vlora, Korça and Durrës respectively with 5% of the proceedings registered, etc.
While it is noted that the lowest number of proceedings registered for these criminal offense groups is in the prosecutor's offices at the first instance courts of Dibër, Berat, Kukës, Elbasan and Lezhë, where about 2% of the total number of proceedings registered nationwide were registered, respectively.
The specific weight of document forgery in the group of criminal offenses "Document forgery" is 59.7% for 2025, while in 2024 it was 61.3%.
