"There has been and is no blockage" - Negotiation process, Minister

Albania's path towards the European Union is not blocked or vetoed by any member of the union. This was emphasized by the Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs, Ferit Hoxha, in the parliamentary committee, where he reported on the negotiation process.

"There has been and is no blockage, there has been and is no veto from any member state for the process of Albania's accession to the EU. The process continues normally. The EU delegation in Tirana has also said so because the country's visible progress in the negotiations has been repeatedly emphasized several times by Commissioner Kos and High Representative Vice President Kallas. We must bear in mind that the pace of the process is determined by two elements: the presidency and the EU member states. They will take the time they see fit for a document that is essential to the process and is being done for the first time in this form and with this methodology. What is essential is our work and results and we must continue with patience in what we know how to do best, which are reforms and to fulfill commitments. Our objective is clear, to do our part seriously, to move forward in accordance with our ambition and the joint plan with the European Commission that has been announced and has so far functioned optimally ," the minister emphasized.

Regarding an editorial by Prime Minister Rama with Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić for a German media outlet, stating that the respective countries would agree to be EU members without veto rights, Hoxha dismissed rumors of an alliance between the two countries, and stressed that this does not harm Kosovo.

"The fact that this opinion was signed together with him should not and cannot be interpreted as an indication of any particular alliance or, even less, of any project against anyone, neither in the region nor outside it. It is just an article: neither an alliance nor a project."

On the contrary, it proves that the countries of the region, despite often deep differences (such as those we have with Serbia, in particular in the extreme incompatibility regarding Kosovo), are able to find common ground when strategic interests coincide. European integration is one of these major interests that requires cooperation, dialogue and pragmatism.

"A lot has been written and said that those two-page article would have harmed Kosovo. This is absolutely unfounded," said Hoxha.

Hoxha was on the committee regarding the IBAR report, for which he said the suggestions are positive.
