Rinas Railway Station - Tender opens for design and construction, fund limit 91.6 million lekë
The Albanian Railways has opened the tender for the drafting of the detailed project and the construction of the Rinas airport railway station building, part of the project for the Tirana - Durrës - Rinas line.
The limited fund made available is around 91.6 million lek, while according to the accompanying documents, the construction of this station is necessary to improve the services that will be offered to passengers and to guarantee a modern and functional infrastructure.
"The project aims to increase the accessibility of public transport, improve the organization of parking areas, access to passenger platforms, pedestrian paths and sidewalks, as well as to pave the surrounding areas for taxis, buses and passenger drop-off and pick-up areas," the tender documents state, among other things.
Currently, two main contracts are in place for the construction of the railway line: one for civil works and signaling-telecommunications systems, and another for the construction of stations. According to official data, works on the railway infrastructure have advanced over 90%, while works on the 8 station buildings are expected to be completed in June.
In parallel, a two-phase procedure for the electrification of the line is also underway for this project, led by the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development, while the tender for the restoration of the train station in Tirana, an investment estimated at around 1.8 billion lek, has yet to be developed.
Authorities aim to complete the construction of the line within this year, while electrification and the start of railway operations are expected to be completed in the first quarter of 2027.
