Three Seas Summit, President Begaj: Transformations in energy and technology require coordination and vision

The President of the Republic, Bajram Begaj, participated in the 11th Summit of the Three Seas Initiative, held in Dubrovnik, Croatia, where this platform was born from 13 member states of the European Union. Albania, since last year, is an associate member of this platform that aims to strengthen connectivity, innovation, infrastructure and industrial competitiveness. The President of the Republic appealed for tangible results that accelerate regional economic development and integration into the European Union.
"The Western Balkans are no longer a periphery, but a strategic front of Europe," the Head of State emphasized in his speech, focusing on the importance of regional cooperation and European integration of the Western Balkans.
President Begaj described this initiative as a success story that has been transformed into a concrete platform for development:
"A decade is not a long time in history, but it is enough to test ideas. Today this platform is producing real connections, real investments and real impact."
The Head of State underlined that Europe is at a crucial moment and requires more than coordination: "Geopolitics, economic uncertainty, and transformations in energy and technology require not only coordination, but leadership; not only sustainability, but vision."
Regarding the integration process, the President of the Republic emphasized that the enlargement of the European Union is an investment in the future: "The integration of our region is not a secondary issue, but part of the solution for a safer and more competitive Europe."
Speaking about Albania, President Begaj noted the importance of connectivity and infrastructure projects: "Connectivity is not an abstract goal. It determines how economies grow and how regions develop."
The President of the Republic mentioned concrete projects in energy and transport, describing them as transformative: "These are not simply infrastructure projects, but transformation instruments that create stability and attract investments."
Finally, the Head of State reconfirmed Albania's strategic objective for integration into the European Union: "Membership in the European Union by 2030 remains our strategic compass."
President Begaj concluded his speech with a message for concrete action: "What matters now is not what we say, but what we accomplish."
The President of the Republic represents Albania for the second time with the status of an associated partner state at the Three Seas Initiative Summit.
The declaration adopted by the Dubrovnik Summit stressed that the enlargement of the European Union is a strategic investment for peace, security and prosperity in Europe. The declaration reiterated the call for a transparent, merit-based, credible and predictable accession process for candidate countries, with particular reference to Albania.
