The expanded Tirana-Durrës/Karakaçi highway opens: We will soon announce the winner for the Milot-Balldren axis
The expanded segment of the Tirana-Durrës highway, in the first 6 km, is fully open to vehicle traffic.
The segment from Tirana to the Rinas overpass now has 8 lanes in total, 4 in each direction, being categorized as a category A road, while the official opening was attended by Prime Minister Edi Rama and the Minister of Infrastructure and Energy, Enea Karakaçi.
Karakaçi announced that work will soon begin on the further continuation of the axis towards Durrës.
In parallel, work is also expected to begin on the Kashar - Lekaj segment, part of the Adriatic - Ionian Highway, while the winner of the concession competition for the Milot-Balldren segment is expected to be announced in the coming weeks.
The cost for expanding the first 6 km of the Tirana - Durrës highway was around 3.4 billion lekë.
