Return of the train station in Tirana - Tender for the 4.2 km segment closes

The tender for the restoration of the Tirana train station has been closed without complaints at the bid submission stage, paving the way for their review. The procurement procedure has a limit fund of 1.5 billion lek, excluding VAT, and was opened in early May for interested companies.

Meanwhile, the Albanian Railway has opened the tender for the construction of the segment, as part of the Durrës-Tirana-Rinas line.

The project envisages the construction of a railway segment of approximately 4.2 km as part of the Tirana – Durrës – Rinas line, which will connect the Public Transport Terminal, near the Kamza turn, with the Central Station in the capital. The line, designed with a single track and dedicated mainly to urban and interurban transport, will include two intermediate stops, while intercity trains will end their journey at the terminal and will not enter the center.

The project includes important infrastructure interventions, such as an overpass over the Grand Ring Road, as well as underpasses and pedestrian overpasses. The railway line partially follows the existing route and then integrates into the New Boulevard of Tirana, adapting to the urban development of the area.

The construction of the Tirana - Durrës - Rinas railway line will be completed next year, while according to the authorities, electrification and the arrival of trains for the start of operations are intended to be completed by the end of 2027.
