High passenger flow at the Port of Durres - Minister Karakaçi inspects the measures taken
The Minister of Infrastructure and Energy, Enea Karakaçi, inspected the measures taken to cope with the influx of passengers during the summer months at the Port of Durres. According to him, a high number of passengers is expected this year as well.
"We are at the peak of the tourist season. In 2025, 800 thousand passengers were processed at the Port of Durres. We think that we will have the same number this year. It is important to strictly implement the plan of measures that the Port Authority of Durres, but also the General Maritime Directorate, have taken, as our task is to make the entry into Albania of tourists and Albanians coming from afar as simple as possible," declared Karakaçi.
For his part, the head of the Durrës Port Authority, Liburn Aliu, spoke in more detail about the work being done at the terminal.
"Currently, all measures have been taken to cope with the influx of passengers. From July 1 to September 15, the staff has doubled and the number of border crossing points has increased. This terminal, compared to the region, is quite fast and well organized ," said Aliu.
Also, ferry lines connecting the port of Durrës with those of Bari and Ancona in Italy have been added.
