Revenues in the state treasury reach 275.8 billion lek - Malaj: The economy is generating more activity

Budget revenues during the first four months of the year have continued their positive performance, reaching 275.8 billion lekë, a result that, according to the Minister of Finance, Petrit Malaj, reflects the expansion of economic activity and the improvement of the performance of the fiscal administration.
In a press conference dedicated to macroeconomic and fiscal developments, the minister announced that revenues collected in the January-April period are 11.7% higher compared to the same period last year. In financial terms, this translates into around 302 million euros more revenue in the budget.
According to Malaj, a significant contribution to this result was made by tax and customs revenues, which during the four-month period reached 172.7 billion lek, or 8.8 billion lek more than in the same period in 2025.
The Minister emphasized that the increase in revenues is an indicator of a more active economy, while at the same time it also reflects the effects of measures taken to strengthen tax and customs administration, within the framework of the implementation of the Medium-Term Revenue Strategy.
Social security and health insurance contributions also showed positive performance. Revenues from these schemes reached 66.8 billion lekë, registering an increase of 12.5% compared to the same period a year ago.
Compared to the first quarter of 2025, insurance revenues have increased by 7.4 billion lek. According to the minister, this development is related to the expansion of employment and the increase in wages in various sectors of the economy.
Malaj underlined that increasing contributions strengthens the financial sustainability of insurance schemes and creates more guarantees for the social protection of citizens in the future.
