Albania will produce military naval vessels/ Agreement signed. Strategic cooperation with Italy strengthened
It was finalized with the signing of an important cooperation agreement, another strategic step for the modernization of the Armed Forces of the Republic of Albania and the development of the domestic defense industry.
The company “Kayo” sh.a, which operates in the defense and security industry, with products and services for the Armed Forces of Albania and international markets, signed a cooperation agreement with the Italian company Fincantieri, currently the largest builder of commercial and military ships in Europe. This partnership paves the way for the production in Albania of naval vessels, not only for the country's needs, but also for export to international markets.
"What makes this agreement a special agreement is also what the senior manager of Fincantieri said, underlining, emphasizing that the world of shipyards is changing and this agreement seeks to define precisely a will and a vision to accompany this change with something new, something special, something special, which will certainly create an Italian-Albanian excellence here in our territory and which will serve in general for the new world of shipyards for its innovation and for what it brings.
On the other hand, this agreement is very good news for young people, for the girls and boys of the Vlora industrial school, who will be the first, who will be contacted and invited to participate in a training journey adapted to be tomorrow and not in a distant future, but in a very near future participants, of this new society of excellence in their territory, that is, in their hometown and they will certainly be accompanied on their training path by Fincantieri professionals and will be educated both in Italy, precisely where Fincantieri has its soul, its base, but also in Albania, in Pashaliman where this second soul, we say, will come to life soon ," the prime minister said.
Minister of Defense Ermal Nufi emphasized that this cooperation brings numerous strategic values to the country.
“ There are several strategic values that are achieved from this cooperation. Albania becomes a new European base for “Fincantier” for small and medium-sized ships. Fincantieri expands its production capacity in Albania and “Kayo” positions itself as a reliable industrial partner with an international architecture. The business model is that over 90% of the clients are international, existing clients of “Fincantier ,” emphasized Nufi.
The project envisages the creation of a new shipyard in Pashaliman, where around 400 people are expected to be employed. This investment is considered a cornerstone for the country's industrial development, while simultaneously promoting youth employment and increasing local capacities in advanced technology.
