OBP at the EBRD international workshop, Albania towards green and social procurement

The Centralized Purchasing Operator (CPO) participated in an international workshop organized by the EBRD in Poland, focused on the implementation of sustainability criteria (ESG) in public procurement, one of the main priorities of reforming this sector at the European level and beyond.
During this event, OBP was presented as a success story in the inclusion of environmental and social criteria in public procurement procedures in Albania. The head of the institution, Ms. Arlinda Pogaj, and other OBP representatives shared concrete experience on how sustainability standards have been integrated into tender documents, technical specifications and evaluation criteria, aiming not only to increase efficiency in the use of public funds, but also to have a positive impact on the environment and society.
The focus of the discussions was on the importance of green and social procurement as a key instrument for sustainable development, as well as the practical challenges associated with the implementation of these criteria in different countries. The workshop served as a valuable platform for the exchange of international experiences and best practices, with the participation of representatives from Poland, Lithuania and Ukraine.
Special attention was also paid to procurement in emergency and wartime conditions, where Ukrainian representatives shared the challenges and mechanisms used to guarantee the continuity of public supplies and transparency in procedures, despite exceptional conditions.
OBP's participation in this workshop follows the institution's commitment to harmonize public procurement practices in Albania with the most advanced international standards, strengthening transparency, competition and accountability in this sector.
