Three years after the announcement of the winner, the Ministry of Infrastructure and Energy is ready to sign the concession contract for the Kashar - Lekaj axis, part of the Milot - Fier highway. Minister Enea Karakaçi stated that they are in the technical opposition phase and the signing is expected within 2 or 3 weeks, which will pave the way for the start of works.
The winner of the concession competition was announced as a consortium of 7 operators consisting of "Gjoka Konstruksion", "Junik", "Cobial", "Pepa Group", "UDHA", "Geoportal" and "A&E Engineering", with an estimated investment value of 474,869,965 euros, excluding VAT.
This segment will be built on a new track, while in total it will have a length of 33.6 km, but the concession object is 26.6 km, as 7 km of this section are part of the Tirana bypass and will be built by the company that is carrying out the works for the latter. The duration of the concession will be 35 years.
Meanwhile, the construction of the Milot-Fier Highway, one of the most important road infrastructure projects in the country, is progressing at different paces in its five lots. With a total length of 114 kilometers, this highway is part of the Adriatic-Ionian Corridor and includes the connection of a number of segments, which are currently in different phases.
The most advanced segment is the Thumanë–Kashar segment, with a length of 21 kilometers, where the works have been completed and are open to traffic. Meanwhile, the start of works is expected for the 2 segments Milot – Thumanë and Lekaj – Fier through concession contracts. As for the Tirana bypass, it is financed directly from the state budget and works have currently started.
