"Safety at work", awareness campaign in construction starts - Manjani: You must invest, obligation for EU integration

During the month of May, the National Labor Inspectorate will launch a broad awareness campaign in the construction sector for the implementation of health and safety conditions at work, considered one of the most risky sectors. The campaign will be accompanied by intensification of field inspections, distribution of information materials and direct engagement with construction entities and employee representatives, with the aim of reducing the number of accidents, increasing the implementation of legal standards and strengthening inter-institutional cooperation.
Sink/ Eljo Muçaj, Director General of the State Labor Inspectorate
"The campaign will be launched throughout May throughout the country and will then be followed by inspection checks and taking the necessary administrative measures if businesses have not fulfilled their obligations."
Present at the event, Deputy Minister of Economy, Olta Manjani, emphasized that investing in occupational health and safety should not be seen as a cost for businesses, as it is also an obligation for Integration into the European Union.
"We should consider this meeting as a first milestone to bring the sector directly affected by EU directives closer together, to raise awareness of what investments they need to make in the working environment. Investing in occupational safety should not be seen as a cost, but as a long-term investment in the well-being of citizens and the health of business."
The event was also attended by the Inspector General, Dashnor Sula, and Erjon Harizaj, Chairman of the Builders' Association, as well as representatives of institutions and construction companies, turning this initiative into a joint platform of commitment for a safer construction sector.
