Librazhdi towards transformation, Mariglen Disha: Here are 3 mountain tourism development projects
The Mayor of Librazhd, Mariglen Disha, has revealed the main projects that are expected to radically change the city and the surrounding areas. According to him, the main focus of the municipality remains the development of mountain tourism, while in parallel, work will continue on the reconstruction of the main roads in the villages. "The focus is the development of mountain tourism in Albania. We have many other projects that we have divided into lots. The first, second and third lots are the reconstruction of the main roads of the villages because in parallel with the reconstruction of the main roads of the villages, I am also developing mountain tourism. Today I say it with all my heart and the city of Librazhd is no longer a transit city that people simply passed through and left, to Macedonia, Greece, Korça and Pogradec. You have tourists both in the city, but also in all administrative units. This is thanks to the good work to be done in relation to the reconstruction of the roads in the villages", he said.
As a success story for mountain tourism, Disha mentioned the tourist village of Fushë Studen. "It has become a tourist village where hundreds of tourists come from Monday to Sunday. In 2025, it was visited by about 192 thousand Albanian and foreign visitors. We have invested, thanks to the support of the government and the Albanian Development Fund, in the reconstruction of the road connecting to the center. We have invested in a promenade with a bicycle track, parking and recreational facilities at the Fushë Studen lake. We are in the implementation phase of a zipline and panoramic balconies that we are building in this unit," said the mayor.
Another positive indicator for the municipality of Librazhd, according to Disha, is the high interest in the “Mountain Package”. He announced that in Librazhd, about 260 applications have been registered from residents who intend to invest in their hometowns for the development of tourism and mountain guesthouses. “It is a considerable number. Most of them are residents who have expressed their desire, have brought projects to invest in their hometowns, which shows the confidence they have in the development of tourism in Librazhd”, declared Disha. Within the framework of this government initiative, the mayor of Librazhd revealed that communication with emigrants living abroad also plays an important role. "We have created the diaspora directorate for all our citizens living abroad to respond to all their complaints and requests. In London, we organized the "Sofra e Librazhdit" for the first time, with about 200 families, where we invited all those who have the opportunity to come and apply for the Mountain Package. The local government will have the support to facilitate this process," said Disha.
