Another 10 days deadline for POS/POI installation - Taxes appeal to businesses to implement cashless obligation

The General Directorate of Taxes has reminded that there are still 10 days left from the legal deadline for implementing the obligation of electronic payments (cashless) through POS/POI devices at points of sale of accommodation structures, transport services and public institutions or companies with state capital.
According to the Taxes announcement, the entities involved must fulfill this obligation by May 30, 2026, ensuring the acceptance of card payments and other electronic forms in their daily activities.
The tax administration emphasizes that the expansion of cashless payments aims to increase transparency in transactions, provide a faster and more efficient service to citizens, and strengthen the formalization of the economy.
Taxes call on entities that have not yet completed the installation of POS/POI devices not to postpone the process until the last few days, in order to avoid delays and problems in fulfilling legal obligations.
The authorities remind that after the deadline, failure to comply with the requirements set out in the legislation may result in administrative measures according to legal provisions.
