CEFTA: Regional countries push towards fully electronic procedures and faster customs clearance

The Albanian Customs Administration participated in the 31st meeting of the CEFTA Subcommittee on Customs and Rules of Origin, held in Sarajevo, where representatives of the countries of the region discussed the advancement of customs reforms and the use of technology to modernize processes.
During the meeting, the achievements to date in the implementation of the Revised PEM Convention were assessed, while the discussions also focused on projects for electronic certificates of origin (e-PoC), the expansion of Authorized Economic Operator (AEO) programs, and the implementation of the CEFTA SEED+ initiative, which aims to improve information exchange and cooperation between customs administrations in the region.
Participants also focused on the importance of fully electronic procedures, data analysis before the arrival of goods, risk management, and measures that help speed up the customs clearance process.
According to the discussions, the modernization and harmonization of customs procedures are considered important factors for increasing efficiency, reducing administrative barriers, and creating more favorable conditions for businesses operating in regional trade.
