Are Albanians hesitant about vacationing abroad? - Zani: Albania is being seen as an alternative destination by foreigners
The uncertainties and recent developments in the region seem to be directly affecting vacation plans. This summer, Albanians are being more reserved about traveling abroad, postponing or reducing reservations compared to a year ago.
"The trend this year is very lukewarm, Albanians are scared and very few are making decisions to take vacations, to spend their summer holidays abroad. They are taking more short trips, within Europe, not very distant destinations, such as Italy, Greece, which are preferred more during the summer and Spain for summer holidays, but definitely a smaller number compared to years ," says Fiorida Zani, Tour Operator.
Meanwhile, in a contrasting panorama, Albania is gaining more and more attention as an alternative destination for foreign tourists.
"Demands have increased and the Middle East has further increased demand towards the Balkans and especially Albania. Flights have increased from European destinations to Albania, so more and more foreigners are choosing Albania, also influenced by the war. As for those who had booked in the Middle East, they have changed their trajectory and are looking at Albania and the Balkans as a destination."
Under these conditions, while Albanians are becoming more cautious about vacationing abroad, the country is increasingly positioning itself on the tourist map as a safe and attractive alternative for foreign visitors.
