China will buy 17 billion USD of American agricultural products - Decision, after the last meeting in Beijing Trump-Xi

China has pledged to buy at least $17 billion in U.S. agricultural products in 2026, 2027 and 2028, the White House said in a briefing document. The commitment was made during meetings between U.S. President Donald Trump and Chinese President Xi Jinping last week.
There has been a sharp decline in US agricultural exports to China, as last year's rounds of tariffs significantly restricted trade, which fell 65.7% year-on-year to $8.4 billion in 2025, according to data from the US Department of Agriculture.
China has significantly reduced its dependence on American agricultural goods since Trump's first term, sourcing roughly 20% of its soybeans from the US in 2024, the year before he returned to office, from 41% in 2016.
The White House said China will work with US regulators to lift suspensions of US beef plants and resume poultry imports from US states designated as free of bird flu.
Confirming previous statements by the Chinese government, the White House also said Sunday that the world's two largest economies will establish a Trade Board and an Investment Board.
The boards will resolve concerns about market access for agricultural products and expand trade "under a framework of reciprocal tariff reduction."
