"First in the region for public procurement", Prime Minister Edi Rama: The EU appreciates us
Prime Minister Edi Rama stated that Albania is being positively assessed by the European Union for its progress in the field of public procurement, one of the most important chapters of the European integration process.
According to Rama, the country ranks first in the region in all key public procurement indicators, while in some indicators it has better results than the average of European Union countries. “This is one of the areas where Albania is seen as positively transformed and is assessed with significant progress,” the Prime Minister said.
He brought as an example the level of procedures with one bidder, where Albania results in lower figures than EU countries. "While the average of procedures with one bidder in EU countries is over 32%, in Albania this figure is 23.5%, while in public works procurement it drops to 12%," Rama declared.
The head of government linked this progress to the process of digitalization of the administration and the reform for the modernization of the state. "95% of the services that citizens request from the state are on the e-Albania platform. There are no more queues, there are no more bribes to skip the queue," he said.
Rama emphasized that the fight against corruption is not only related to justice, but also to building systems that reduce physical contact and increase transparency in administration and public procurement.
