Over 159 thousand vehicles inspected in five months - DPSHTRR: Cars dominate technical testing

The General Directorate of Road Transport Services has published the balance of the technical inspection of vehicles for the period January-May 2026, highlighting a high number of vehicles that have undergone the technical verification process throughout the country.
According to data from the DPSHTRR, during the first five months of this year, a total of 159 thousand 780 vehicles were tested at technical inspection centers. The vast majority of them are vehicles of the 4+1 and 8+1 seat category, which register 141 thousand 59 tests, or 88.3% of the total. This shows that vehicles used for individual and family transport continue to dominate the fleet of vehicles that are subject to periodic technical inspection.
Following them are trucks with 8,475 vehicles tested, representing 5.3% of the total. Meanwhile, motorcycles account for 4.7% of the tests, with 7,450 vehicles checked during this period.
The data also shows that technical checks were carried out on 1,638 buses, or about 1% of the total. Other categories are also included, 609 trailers and 549 construction or earthmoving vehicles, which together constitute less than 1% of the vehicles tested.
Technical inspection is considered one of the main elements for guaranteeing road safety, as it verifies the technical condition of vehicles with the standards required for circulation.
According to the General Directorate of Road Transport Services, vehicles used for individual and family transport remain the main category submitted for technical inspection, while goods transport vehicles and other categories constitute a smaller part of the total tests carried out during the period January-May 2026.
