Weekends, restrictions for heavy vehicles during the summer/ June 19-September 15, traffic is prohibited on tourist routes
From June 19 to September 15, goods vehicles with a total mass over 7.5 tons will not be allowed to circulate in certain time slots during weekends and official holidays.
The State Police announces that the restrictions will be implemented on highways, interurban and urban roads, mainly in the segments connecting coastal and tourist areas, where there is an increased flow of vehicles during the summer season.
According to the announcement, on Friday the ban will be in effect from 3:00 PM to 12:00 AM. On Saturday and Sunday the restriction will be implemented from 7:00 AM to 12:00 AM.
For official holidays, the restrictions start at 15:00 on the previous day and last until 22:00, while on the day of the holiday they apply from 07:00 to 24:00.
Emergency vehicles, vehicles of the State Police and other state institutions, as well as the transport of essential goods, including perishable food products, are exempt from these restrictions.
In special cases, for critical supplies or emergency needs, the competent authorities may grant special authorizations.
The State Police appeals to transport operators and drivers to respect the measures, in order to avoid traffic congestion, prevent accidents and guarantee a safer tourist season.
