Energy deposits, the first two licenses are approved - The Regulatory Authority initiates procedures for two more photovoltaic power plants
Electricity storage is officially entering the solar power generation sector. The Energy Regulatory Authority has approved the modification of licenses for two photovoltaic power plants, giving them the green light to integrate energy storage systems, while it has initiated procedures for two other projects.
The ERE Board has approved the modification of the licenses of the companies SPV Blue 1 and SPV Blue 2, which operate photovoltaic power plants with an installed capacity of 50 MW each in the Sheq-Marinës area, Fier. The license modification allows these companies to add energy accumulation/storage systems, without changing the installed capacity of the plants.
Likewise, ERE has decided to initiate procedures for reviewing the requests of the companies Sunny Side Energy and GreenNat Solar Park Ballsh, which intend to modify their licenses for photovoltaic power plants with an installed capacity of 100 MW each, also integrating energy storage systems.
With these decisions, the first concrete steps towards the integration of storage batteries in large photovoltaic projects in our country take shape. Energy storage is considered a key element for increasing the flexibility of the electric power system, as it enables the storage of energy produced during hours of high solar radiation and its use at times when demand is higher or production from renewable sources is low.
