The train station returns to Tirana - ARRSH opens the tender for the 4.2 km segment, fund limit 1.5 billion lek

The restoration of the train station in Tirana is expected to cost 1.5 billion lek, excluding VAT, as the Albanian Railways has opened the tender for the construction of the segment, as part of the Durrës-Tirana-Rinas line.
The project envisages the construction of a railway segment of approximately 4.2 kilometers, which will connect the Public Transport Terminal, near the Kamza turn, with the Central Station in the capital. The line, designed with a single track and dedicated mainly to urban and interurban transport, will include two intermediate stops, while intercity trains will end their journey at the terminal and will not enter the center.
The project includes important infrastructure interventions, such as an overpass over the Grand Ring Road, as well as underpasses and pedestrian overpasses. The railway line partially follows the existing route and then integrates into the New Boulevard of Tirana, adapting to the urban development of the area. In the segments within the city, separation from road traffic is foreseen, while in some areas trains will move at reduced speed for safety and urban integration reasons. In total, the intervention affects over 70 thousand square meters of land and about 120 buildings, while the main goal remains to reduce traffic, pollution and increase the role of public transport in the capital.
The construction of the Tirana - Durrës - Rinas railway line will be completed next year, while according to the authorities, electrification and the arrival of trains for the start of operations are intended to be completed in the first quarter of 2027.
