Defense spending, Ambassador Whitaker provides details from the meeting with Rama and the visit to Kuçova
US Ambassador to NATO, Matthew Whitaker, has shared details from his visit to Albania through a post on "X". Whitaker writes that he conducted an informational tour of the Kuçova Air Base with the Minister of Defense, Ermal Nufi.
Regarding the meeting with Prime Minister Edi Rama, he emphasized that they spoke about US President Donald Trump's objective for defense spending of 5% of GDP.
“In Albania, I had an informative tour of the Kuçova Air Base by Defense Minister Ermal Nufi. Albania is increasingly capable in cyber defense, committed to the Peace Board and the International Stabilization Force in Gaza, and more.
"Discussing with Prime Minister Rama and his team, I emphasized that we look forward to seeing what more can be achieved for military mobility once Albania reaches President Trump's target for defense spending of 5% of GDP," he writes.
