Milk, will categorization open the doors to exports? - Deputy Minister Kika: Subjects have been given deadlines to meet the standards

Around 900 business operators in the dairy industry will pass the standards filter, in order to meet EU integration requirements, but also to be able to export as quickly as possible.
In an interview with SCAN TV, Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development, Tana Kika, stated that the first phase of categorization for 253 entities has currently been completed.
"It is a summary of the entire current situation and a score according to the categories that they meet in relation to the criteria, the conditions of food business operators. Such as hygiene standards, or other elements such as HACCP, or infrastructure issues. And, when this categorization is made, food business operators are also given clear tasks, and specific deadlines for fulfilling these obligations, which they must achieve in order to achieve the objectives and move to a higher category, or for them, to be categorized as OBU or food business operators that meet the criteria. Of course, categorization is very necessary, not only because it is a panorama and a real situation, for assessing the sector, and in this way we can make an action plan later to go all together towards fulfilling these standards, that is, to implement legal obligations."
According to the Deputy Minister, this process will not only increase food security, but also give the green light to exports of dairy products.
"The work so far continues. For example, we are very close to opening the export of eggs, category A, or table eggs, Albanian eggs. This will continue with milk and meat, not only to guarantee the domestic consumer, but of course to have access to European markets."
Currently, Albania does not export animal products because it does not meet European Union standards.
