Rama: Estonia a guide for Albania in digital transformation and education

Prime Minister Edi Rama, during a joint statement with Estonian Prime Minister Kristian Michal in Estonia, praised the Estonian model of technological development and digital innovation. Rama described Estonia as “a laboratory of the future” for the way the Baltic country has built a modern and technology-oriented state.

Rama said that Albania sees Estonia as an inspiring example for digital transformation and the development of artificial intelligence. The head of the Albanian government praised the cooperation between the two countries, especially in the field of education and technology. According to Rama, Albania aims to follow the Estonian model, emphasizing that 95% of public services are already provided online.

"First of all, I want to express my gratitude for finally being allowed to visit this city that I have always imagined as a laboratory of the future that is being written day by day. It is true that this city is wonderful also thanks to what was built in the past. I want to say to the citizens of Estonia that we have complete admiration for them who, instead of deciding to live in a museum, have decided to live in the future and this makes Estonia that city that shines on top of the hill, especially for a country like Albania, since we are small and we need such examples.

"I want to thank you for the warm hospitality and I have to say that you had very good food here which is not something I would have expected. In the meantime, thank you very much for the useful conversation and for sharing with me how you have successfully managed as a country to make what you call the "tiger leap" in moving forward and in the way you think and act to make this second leap to respond to the challenges of the new era of Artificial Intelligence ," said Rama.

He also touched on the importance of artificial intelligence, stating that Albania wants to learn from the Estonian experience to prepare the younger generations for the challenges of the new technological era. Rama also emphasized that Albania and Estonia are natural allies within NATO and share the same stance on protecting democracy and opposing foreign influences aimed at destabilizing democratic countries.

"With you, we not only seek cooperation, but we seek that roadmap for Estonia, and I am very grateful that you told us that you are ready to expect our people to come more often to learn from you and from what you are doing, especially at the level of the education sector, starting with children, to give them the instruments to take the country to another level."

It is obvious that we must ensure that our journey towards 2030 is paved with the same innovation that has made Estonia a global brand. We also have 95% of our services online and we aim to move forward with Artificial Intelligence. You mention the Minister of Artificial Intelligence, we are more than happy to introduce her to you., on the other hand, it is rightly mentioned that Albania and Estonia are very much united not only by NATO, but also by an unwavering refusal to let foreign powers undermine our democratic way of life", said Rama.

According to Rama, both countries have gone through difficult historical periods under imposed regimes.

"We are two nations that are finally living with the desire to seize the future, having been held for a long time in the past, not by their own choice, but due to the imposition of the regimes that we shared at a certain moment in history. We are also extremely determined to protect what we have, and this not only makes us like-minded nations, but makes us absolutely natural allies and friends," Rama said.
