29.3 million euros from energy sales/ January-April, Albanian Electric Power

The first 4 months of the year have resulted in positive results in terms of energy production, leading the Albanian Power Corporation to develop several sales procedures, generating income for the company.

According to data published by KESH, a total of 14 procedures have been carried out, through which almost 480 thousand mWh of energy have been sold, with prices ranging from 17.6 euros/mWh, which is the lowest, to 109.75 euros/mWh, which is the highest price. The average price results in 59 euros/mWh, while in total almost 29.3 million euros have been secured.

Meanwhile, according to a report published a few weeks ago by the Energy Community, a factor that has influenced this performance is the fact that this energy is not subject to the additional costs of the new European carbon mechanism (CBAM), giving Albania an advantage compared to countries that produce energy from coal.

The procedures developed so far present a stark contrast to last year, which was not good from an electricity point of view.

This is due to the lack of rainfall, which would enable production at the Fierza, Koman and Vau i Dejës hydroelectric power plants, forcing the Corporation to develop dozens of energy purchasing procedures, in order to meet consumer needs.

This caused the total bill for energy imports to reach over 160 million euros, once again highlighting the importance of diversifying energy production sources.
