110 million euro project for the sewerage of Greater Tirana/ Braçe:

The 110 million euro project funded by the Japanese government to treat Tirana's wastewater is being reactivated. During an interpellation called by MP Erion Braçe, the Minister of Infrastructure and Energy revealed the reasons that have led to the multi-year delays in completing the works, but added that the government is committed to completing the major project.

"The project financed by the generous government of the equally generous Japanese people, with the aim of cleaning Tirana's polluted waters, signed, financed, with the guidance of 2008, unfinished even in 2026, is a great pain for this city that is no longer the one of 2008, but has been expanded haphazardly, wherever it could," said Braçe.

"Currently, we are at the stage where the consultant has completed the review and update of the detailed technical project, since as I said, the project was interrupted in the middle, and the consultant has already drafted the new technical project that contains the continuation of the works carried out so far and the closure of this process. And we are at the stage where the consultant is drafting the standard tender documents and the start of the competitive procedure for the selection of a contractor who will be able to complete the works of the wastewater treatment plant is expected very soon," said Karakaçi.

In parallel, an interpellation was also held regarding the quality of construction materials. Braçe raised concerns after the incident in the capital where the facade of a building was completely burned down, while Karakaçi announced that a draft law has already been drafted for the marketing of construction products, which aims to create a modern and unified system for the assessment, verification and declaration of the performance of construction products in accordance with European Union standards. Also, according to the minister, the draft law also provides for the establishment of structures responsible for certification, technical assessment and market surveillance in order to increase safety.
