Milot–Balldre towards finalization - Announcement of the concession winner, works will last 30 months from the signing of the contract

The process for selecting the company that will build the Milot - Balldre road axis is nearing completion, and the winner of the contract is expected to be announced in the coming days. After the concession competition ended in October without complaints and with three bids in the competition, the authorities have continued with the review of the documentation, a phase that is now nearing completion.
This development paves the way for the signing of the contract and the start of works for one of the most important segments of road infrastructure in the country, part of the Adriatic-Ionian corridor. According to official data, the project has an estimated value of around 365 million euros, excluding VAT, while the contract will have a duration of 35 years, including construction, operation and maintenance.
The Milot-Balldre axis, with a length of about 17 km, will be built as a category A highway, replacing the existing category C segment. The road starts at the Milot junction, where it connects to the Milot-Thumanë-Kashar-Lekaj axes and the National Road, to end in Balldre, in connection with the Tirana-Shkodër road.
According to previous forecasts by the Ministry of Infrastructure and Energy, works were intended to begin in the middle of this year, while the construction of the segment is expected to last about 30 months from the moment of signing the contract.
Milot - Balldre is part of the Adriatic - Ionian corridor, which is preliminarily identified as part of the TEN-T Mediterranean Corridor, extending the EU Core Network Corridor to the Western Balkans Region.
