Where can the diaspora invest? - Ibrahimaj: Innovation, energy and tourism, key sectors of the economy

Energy, tourism and innovation are just some of the key sectors where the diaspora can invest. In the panel “Diaspora, partners in business and innovation”, the Minister of Economy and Innovation, Delina Ibrahimaj, said that the interest of Albanians in the region in receiving funds through start-ups has increased, while 10% of the funds are for this category.
"When we started startups, the demand from the diaspora was zero. In the second year, we had 5 startups that applied and won."
Last year, there were 35 Albanians who applied from countries in the region, while this year there are 70.
70 may seem like a small number, but it is significant. Nearly 10% of the funds are available to the diaspora.
We want to help internationalize them. Today can be a day marked towards developing a stronger relationship in this direction.
"Key sectors are developing. Tourism did not develop overnight. This has come about thanks to a vision, a policy that the government has implemented, creating a facilitating environment for investments in tourism, fiscal incentives, in order to increase the number of accommodation structures and to be attractive," said Ibrahimaj."
Further, the minister also spoke about the energy sector, emphasizing that Albania attaches particular importance to green energy.
"An important sector that we will continue to promote is energy. When we talk about energy, we talk about renewable energy, green energy. Everything is being seen in the green and digital context. We are among the most advanced countries in Europe in terms of public services and we have great potential to offer the private sector more access.
We have many actors that operate not only in the Albanian market, but also in the foreign market.
"In addition to success stories, Albania also has a policy that encourages and supports innovation in the country. Through technology parks, we offer a wide range of incentives for anyone who comes to live and work in Albania."
At the end of her speech, Ibrahimaj emphasized that the aim is to build a stronger relationship and that the fifth summit will have measurable results.
