350 million lek for the "Coastal Road"/ Kavaja Municipality opens the

The Municipality of Kavaja has announced the opening of the competition for the revitalization of the “Coastal Road” project, phase one, with a limited fund of around 350 million lek. The project aims to reconstruct one of the main entrance axes of the city, connecting the northern area of Kavaja with the Durrës–Rrogozhina highway and further with the cities of Durrës, Tirana and the north of the country.

According to documents published by the Public Procurement Agency, the road segment starts from the roundabout at the intersection with the Durrës-Rrogozhinë highway and ends at the intersection with the “Taulantia” road and the “Josif Budo” promenade. The total length of the road is 1 kilometer and 377 meters.

Referring to the document, the condition of the road is presented with damage to the asphalt layers and a weak foundation and non-uniform layer of the existing road have been found.

The new project envisages the complete reconstruction of the road axis, while preserving the existing road layout. The project aims not only to improve vehicle circulation, but also to transform the urban area, creating higher standards of safety and accessibility for citizens.

According to the technical plan, the current traffic divider will be eliminated and the road will operate as a single carriageway, organized with three lanes. One lane will be used for entering the city, while the other two lanes will be used for exiting Kavaja.

A bicycle lane will be built on the west side of the road. The project also includes the construction of new sidewalks, the installation of decorative curbs, metal railings and the reconstruction of the perimeter walls along the segment.

The document emphasizes that the intervention will be carried out while respecting the existing quotas of buildings and apartment entrances, to avoid urban problems. Also, no demolition of buildings is foreseen.

Another aspect of the project is the construction of street lighting, which will be placed on both sides of the axis. Meanwhile, horizontal and vertical signage will also be implemented, in accordance with the standards and the Road Code in force.

With this investment, the Municipality of Kavaja aims not only to rehabilitate an important road segment, but also to transform the city's main entrances, which will serve its citizens.
