Energy production in the country increases - Balance for the 4th month: Network losses slightly reduced, collections at 82%

Around 4.4 million MWh of energy were produced during the first 4 months of this year from all generation sources in the country, marking a significant increase compared to the previous year, where around 2.9 million MWh of energy was generated for the same period.
According to data from the Energy Regulatory Authority, production was dominated by private companies with 54% of total energy, while the Albanian Electric Power Corporation, including the Karavasta solar power plant that is included in the public energy balance, generated 46%.
Private producers, in addition to hydropower plants, also include photovoltaic plants, although the amount generated is extremely low in relation to the energy produced from hydropower sources. According to data from ERE, in total, plants in the free market and those with contracts with the Free Market Supplier produced 165,916 mWh or about 3.8% of the total electricity generated in the country.
If we add to this value the energy produced by the Karavsta solar power plant, then the total solar energy in the country amounts to 5.22% of the total amount generated.
Meanwhile, total energy consumption for the 4-month period reached around 3.1 million MWh of energy, experiencing a slight increase compared to the January-April period of last year. In parallel, the level of losses in the distribution network for the 4-month period was recorded at 16.57%, marking a slight improvement compared to the same period last year, where losses were estimated at 17%.
Regarding the level of collections for the period January - April, this indicator reached 82% of the invoices generated by the Electricity Distribution Operator.
