332 million euros in business obligations forgiven/ Anti-informality, Taxes: 932

The anti-informality reform, intensively undertaken in the last two years, has also produced concrete results, reflecting an increase in budget revenues, an expansion of the taxpayer base, and a strengthening of the fight against tax evasion.

According to data from the Tax Administration, until June 30, 2026, important developments aimed at improving the business climate and consolidating public finances have been recorded.

One of the main indicators is the increase in budget revenues. Over the past two years, 932 million euros more have been collected, as a result of the combination of economic growth and measures to combat tax evasion. According to the Tax Administration, these revenues create more fiscal space for financing social policies, including support for increasing pensions.

Meanwhile, the Law of Forgiveness has generated considerable interest from businesses and individuals. So far, 122 thousand taxpayers have benefited from this initiative, while tax liabilities with a total value of 332 million euros have been forgiven. Tax authorities consider this process as an opportunity to open a new chapter in the relations between the administration and taxpayers, encouraging voluntary compliance with fiscal obligations on the eve of the country's European integration.

Another instrument aimed at increasing formalization was the “Fiscal Peace” package. So far, 19 agreements have been concluded for the 2026 tax period, which allow economic entities to regulate their tax situation voluntarily. The Tax Administration emphasizes that this scheme supports businesses that choose to formalize and develop their activity in accordance with the legislation.

Meanwhile, the tax administration has reiterated that the approach to tax evasion remains unchanged. The "zero tolerance" policy towards violations will continue to be implemented, while controls and monitoring will focus on entities that evade legal obligations.

Formalizing the economy is a key element for increasing competitiveness, improving the investment climate, and strengthening fiscal stability. A more formalized economy not only increases state revenues, but also supports the country's long-term economic development.
