Elbasan Bypass, bidding phase closes without complaints - ARRSH towards evaluating proposals for the first 2 lots worth 5.8 billion lek

The tender procedures for the construction of the first two lots of the Elbasan bypass have advanced to the bid review phase, as the deadline for their submission closed on June 10 without any complaints filed by economic operators.
The closure of this phase paves the way for the Albanian Road Authority to continue the procedure with the evaluation of the submitted bids and the selection of the companies that will implement the first segments of this infrastructure project.
The tenders, with a total limit fund of around 5.8 billion lek, include the construction of the connecting road between the Tirana - Elbasan axis and Corridor VIII, a segment about 4 kilometers long that forms part of the Elbasan bypass. The route starts before the Bradashesh roundabout and ends near the former Metallurgical Plant.
This investment aims to reduce traffic load at the entrances and exits of the Tirana - Elbasan highway, especially in the Bradashesh area, which has been considered one of the most problematic points for vehicle traffic for years.
The project constitutes an integral part of the Pan-European Corridor VIII and will enable the connection between the two main segments currently under development, Elbasan – Lekaj and Elbasan – Qafë Thanë.
According to forecasts, the implementation of the bypass is expected to reduce travel time, reduce air pollution in the city, and increase road safety. The project is included in the Priority Policy Document 2027–2029 in the category of mature investments, with a total estimated cost of about 240 million euros.
