What does Albania buy from global export giants? From machinery and industrial equipment, to fuels and pharmaceutical products

The ten economies that dominate global exports are also among the main suppliers of goods entering the Albanian market. According to data compiled by Visual Capitalist for 2025 (see here) , the largest exporters in the world are China, the United States, Germany, the Netherlands, Hong Kong, Japan, Italy, South Korea, the United Arab Emirates and France.

Cars, technology and energy dominate imports
Analysis by commodity chapters shows that several categories account for the largest share of imports from these world trade giants.
At the top are means of transportation, which include vehicles and spare parts, a category that shows very high values in imports from Germany, South Korea, Italy and the United States.
Another important group is machinery and mechanical equipment, as well as electrical and electronic equipment, which are mainly supplied from China, Germany and Italy and are directly related to industrial and technological activity in the country.
Meanwhile, a significant portion of imports is related to mineral fuels and oils, essential for the functioning of the economy, as well as pharmaceutical products, which constitute a category of considerable value.
What goods come from the largest exporting economies?
From Italy, Albania mainly imports means of transport, machinery, industrial materials, food products and various light industry items.
From China, electrical and electronic equipment, machinery, plastics, furniture, and various consumer goods dominate, making this country an important supplier of technology and everyday devices.
Imports from Germany focus on vehicles, mechanical equipment and pharmaceutical products, while South Korea shows a high weight especially in means of transport and technological equipment.
A variety of industrial and technological products, including specialized equipment and pharmaceutical products, come from the United States and France.
Meanwhile, the Netherlands, Japan, the United Arab Emirates and Hong Kong contribute various industrial, technological and energy goods that meet the needs of the Albanian market.
