How will the Palace of Congresses be transformed? - Ready for redevelopment, Rama: Another tourist destination in Tirana

The Congress Palace building in Tirana will have a new "face", as work will soon begin on its redevelopment, to provide a modern and multifunctional structure. 5 finalist teams have presented their architectural project ideas.
"It is truly time for a transformation while preserving its identity and of course the call for cooperation of the entrepreneurship, also implies the development of a facility or a set of facilities, we will see from the proposals, near the Palace of Congresses and the ultimate goal is for this palace to come on time from the point of view of technology, from the point of view of the quality of the spaces, from the point of view of the entire reorganized and qualitatively re-engaged structure, but also for this palace and this area to become another destination of Tirana tourist, of Tirana the capital of Albanians, of Tirana of cultural activities and of Tirana of daily social activity, not leaving an island that is always a "silent island" when there is no activity inside, creating life here as we once created around the former stadium pit, which today is another pole of daily and nocturnal life here."
Meanwhile, the Minister of Tourism and Culture, Blendi Gonxhja, provided more details about the impact this project will have.
"We need a more virtuoso, multifunctional, more modern center, worthy of today's Tirana and Albania. It is not just about a building with greater capacities, but about an avant-garde infrastructure, capable of hosting elite international events, world-renowned artists, summits, exhibitions and activities that require high standards. Therefore, the requalification of this emblematic building of Tirana is a very important investment in the service of cultural, institutional and public life. We need a space that is both a national stage for Albanian talents, but also a true international stage for events that now connect our country with the world."
The redevelopment of one of the capital's most iconic buildings, according to the government, is due to limited capacity and serious problems that need to be addressed.
