"Through our roots we rise" - Albanians of the diaspora gather in Tirana

"'We rise through our roots', this is the motto of the 4th Diaspora Summit that opens its doors this Monday in the capital and until Wednesday, dozens of panels will discuss the role of the diaspora in Albania 2030 and of course integration into the European Union."
Discussions at this summit will focus on some of the most important issues, such as the role of the diaspora in democracy and representation, its impact on economic development and innovation, as well as its contribution to key sectors such as health, education, and scientific research.
Special emphasis will be placed on the inclusion of the diaspora in electoral and institutional processes, the promotion of investment and knowledge exchange, as well as the preservation of national identity through language and culture.
Also, at the center of the discussions will be cooperation between Albania, Kosovo and Albanian factors in the region, with the aim of a more coordinated approach towards the diaspora.
The summit is expected to gather senior political figures, institutional representatives, experts and members of the diaspora from different countries around the world, aiming to strengthen ties and create sustainable cooperation mechanisms, where the diaspora will have an increasingly active role in the economic, social and institutional development of the country.
The opening of the summit this Monday evening will be accompanied by the decoration of diaspora personalities by the President of the Republic Bajram Begaj.
The second day of the summit will begin with welcoming remarks by Ferit Hoxha, Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs, and by Prime Minister Edi Rama.
In total, 17 discussion panels will be held, 8 of them on April 14 and 9 on April 15, where issues related to the development, cooperation and role of the Albanian diaspora in the region and beyond will be addressed. The Opening Ceremony will take place at the Opera and Ballet Theater, while the proceedings will take place mainly at the Palace of Congresses, while certain panels will hold discussions in the premises of the former Pyramid.
