OBP publishes the first catalog for medical materials - Unified standards and prices for hospitals

The Centralized Purchasing Operator (OBP) jsc has published the first catalog for "Purchase of general and surgical medical supplies for hospital needs", establishing a unified basis for the technical specifications and prices of these products in the public healthcare system.
The catalog includes a wide range of medical materials, divided into main categories, with standardized specifications and indicative prices for each item, which create convenience during procurement procedures.
In a first phase, the standardization of technical specifications was carried out, with the aim of guaranteeing the same quality in all health institutions. Subsequently, the OBP conducted a market analysis to determine unified prices, creating a common reference for procurement procedures.
This model aims to reduce price differences and avoid fragmented purchasing practices, increasing transparency and control over the use of public funds, while also automatically bringing greater cost savings.
With the publication of this catalog, the role of hospitals focuses mainly on determining quantitative needs, while OBP covers standards and price references, as well as support in procurement procedures.
It is expected that this mechanism will reduce the time of procedures, improve the comparability of offers and increase competition in the market. In parallel, the standardization and unification of prices is expected to save funds during procurement procedures.
This is the first catalog of its kind for the health sector and is expected to be followed by further developments in the standardization of public procurement.
