Over 92 thousand visitors to museums and archaeological parks in 3 months - Growing cultural tourism, what are the most visited sites?

The Minister of Tourism, Culture and Sports, Blendi Gonxhja, published the visitor figures to the country's archaeological parks and museums, which show an increase in interest from domestic and foreign tourists. According to the published figures, a total of 92,918 domestic and foreign visitors visited museums and cultural centers in the country. Compared to 2023, an increase of 81% was recorded.
The data shows that national museums received 39,338 visitors, while the majority of the flow was concentrated in archaeological parks, forts and cultural monuments, with 53,580 visitors in total. These figures demonstrate a particular interest in historical tourism related to the country's cultural identity.
Meanwhile, among the most visited cultural sites, the Shkodra Castle Archaeological Park leads, which has attracted 16,309 visitors during this first quarter, January-March 2026.
In second place is the National Museum "Gjergj Kastrioti Skanderbeg" with 14,924 visitors. Next comes the Gjirokastra Castle, one of the most important world heritage monuments, which has welcomed 13,460 visitors, remaining one of the main attractions in the south of the country.
The list continues with the Butrint National Park, an archaeological site of particular historical and tourist importance, visited by 9,160 people, as well as the National Museum of Eavesdropping "House with Leaves", which was visited by 8,957 tourists.
The figures show a growing interest in Albanian cultural heritage, also reflecting the increase in tourism and the promotion of historical destinations in the country.
