DPSHTRR removes 2000 old vehicles from circulation - In the period January-April, 126 thousand technical inspections of vehicles were carried out

The General Directorate of Road Transport Services has published the technical inspection data of vehicles that underwent testing at Technical Inspection Centers throughout the country, for the period January-April 2026.
According to data from the DPSHTRR, during the first four months of this year, a total of 126,719 vehicles of various categories were tested, as part of periodic verifications aimed at increasing road safety and guaranteeing the technical standards of vehicles circulating on the country's roads.
The vast majority of tests were conducted on vehicles of the 4+1 and 8+1 seat category, which are also the most used vehicles by citizens. Specifically, 112,164 vehicles of this category were checked, representing 88.5% of the total number of vehicles tested during this period.
Meanwhile, 6,888 trucks, or 5.4% of the total, were subjected to technical inspections. Likewise, 5,494 motor vehicles were tested, which constitute 4.3% of the total number of vehicles inspected. During the months of January-April, 1,261 buses, 483 trailers, and 429 construction and earthmoving vehicles were also inspected.
On the other hand, 2,538 vehicles with an average age of 22 years have been definitively deregistered or 35.3% more compared to the same period in 2025. The reason for the deregistration of old vehicles is incomplete safety standards, lack of technical conditions, high depreciation and consumption, emphasizes the DPSHTRR.
This process increases road safety and limits the circulation of vehicles that pose a risk.
The General Directorate of Road Transport Services announces that the technical inspection process remains one of the main links in guaranteeing traffic safety, reducing the risk of accidents and respecting technical and environmental standards by drivers.
