Universities seek internationalization - Kumbaro: 39 higher education institutions, too many for 2.4 million inhabitants
“39 universities are too many for a country with 2.4 million inhabitants.” This is the statement made by the Minister of Education, Mirela Kumbaro, during a conference with the League of Universities. After listening to the demands of representatives from private universities, Kumbaro emphasized standardization and internationalization.
Meanwhile, Professor Selami Xhepa requested that in addition to administrative fees, a tuition fee be established, as according to him, this would encourage students to complete their studies on time. Also, another important element for universities for Xhepa remains the financing of scientific research, based on the needs of the country.
The Chairman of the Board of Directors of the League of Universities, Et'hem Ruka, also said that the country needs more foreign students.
The discussion with universities took place within the framework of the law on higher education and orientation towards the global market.
