More electric vehicles, less pollution - DPSHTRR: January-May, almost 5 thousand units were registered

The General Directorate of Road Transport Services announces that during the first five months of the year, 4,939 fully electric vehicles (All-Electric) were registered for the first time, an increase of 197% compared to the same period in 2025. These vehicles constitute 45.7% of the total number of vehicles with zero kilometers registered, marking an increase of 104% compared to January-May last year.
On the other hand, the increase in electric vehicles has a direct impact on environmental protection. DPSHTRR emphasizes that the use of these vehicles has brought a reduction of 6,519,480 kilograms of carbon dioxide per year, equivalent to 217,316 cleaner "environmental lungs".
Meanwhile, 82.7% of vehicles registered for the first time belong to the environmental category Euro 5 and above, marking an increase of 13% compared to January-May 2025 and 24% more than the same period in 2024.
Another positive indicator is related to the new Electric Hybrid Plug-in vehicles. DPSHTRR data shows that 77% of vehicles with 0 kilometers registered during this period belong to this category, with an increase of 28.7% compared to the first five months of last year.
This data shows a significant increase in electric vehicles, reflecting an orientation of citizens towards vehicles that cause less pollution to the environment.
