Over 201 thousand vehicles underwent technical inspection - DPSHTRR publishes

The General Directorate of Road Transport Services publishes the balance of technical inspection and vehicle registration for the period January-June 2026.

According to official data, during the first half of the year, 201,320 vehicles were tested at Technical Control Centers across the country. The main weight of the tests was taken by vehicles with 4+1 and 8+1 seat capacity, with 177,212 vehicles checked, or 88% of the total.

Meanwhile, 10,601 trucks, which constitute 5.3% of the total, 9,688 motorcycles or 4.8%, 2,335 buses, 796 trailers, as well as 688 construction and earthmoving vehicles, were also tested. Technical control is one of the mandatory procedures for the circulation of vehicles, with the aim of verifying technical conditions and guaranteeing road safety standards.

DPSHTRR has also published data on new vehicle registrations. During the period January-June 2026, 13,259 vehicles aged 0 to 4 years were registered. Compared to the same period in 2025, an increase of 40% is observed, indicating an increasing trend of fleet expansion with newer vehicles and with higher technical and environmental standards.

These data show a trend of expansion of the fleet of newer vehicles in the country, as well as the continuation of the technical inspection process to guarantee road safety. Also, these figures reflect the continuation of the vehicle modernization process in the country, while technical inspections remain a key element for increasing road safety and for guaranteeing the circulation of vehicles that meet the required criteria.
